Dear Colleagues,

The Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO) and the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia cordially invite you to the 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly meeting of the ACEEEO, which will be held on 8-10 September 2020, Tbilisi, Georgia.

With the active participation of electoral officials, academia and other electoral stakeholders, in this year we intend to discuss the topic of ‘Elections and Communications - The role of Electoral Management Bodies in conducting and facilitating effective communication’. The 2020 annual conference is structured to embrace both the external and internal aspects the theme Communications, as well as different aims, including education, providing of information, etc. Besides the theoretical framework the practical-institutional aspect would be discussed with a special attention paid to the challenges and opportunities posed by internet and social media.

The Conference Organizers were planning to hold traditional annual conference in Tbilisi, Georgia, however, in the current international situation, which is linked to the spread of COVID-19 virus, the travel of the participants might be complicated and unsafe. Therefore, considering the well-being and safety of our colleagues, we launch an online event where virtual interaction will be provided to all the registered participants. Furthermore, we intend to inform all the attendees about the opportunities of physical gathering taking into account the recommendations of the WHO and Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Continuing the long-lasting tradition, the ACEEEO Conference gives opportunity to the electoral officials to learn about the recent developments in the field of electoral technology. In the frame of the event we will organize a Virtual Exhibition of the commercial companies producing electoral solutions.
